Welcome

Born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts, I grew up an only child. Though shy, I was unbelievably creative and driven. My mother introduced me to musical theatre at a young age, and I became a lifelong fan of the stage. I spent years studying tap, ballet, and jazz, then choreographed and starred in my high school's productions of The Wiz and Guys and Dolls. In college, I performed in Count Dracula, then went on to direct No Exit Theatre Company's productions of Ten Little Indians, Rumors, and Drop Dead.

Inspired by my favorite musical, Phantom of the Opera, I drafted my very first novel, The Opera Apparition, when I was only fourteen (though I never pursued publication). I also began writing poetry as a teenager. Many of my poems were published in literary magazines and anthologies.

In the nineties, I moved to Virginia to attend college at Marymount University in Arlington. I graduated with a BA in psychology, then went on to pursue my master's degree in social work at the Catholic University of America. After my first year, however, I decided to withdraw and obtained an MBA in nonprofit management from Walden University instead.

I spent most of my professional career working for health-related nonprofits in the Washington, DC, area, including the Arthritis Foundation Metro DC Chapter, American Psychological Foundation, Advocates for Youth, and Spina Bifida Association of America. In my 20+ years in fundraising, I crafted hundreds of appeals, articles, annual reports, web pages, e-campaigns, and social media posts, utilizing storytelling to inspire others to give to their favorite causes. No matter where I worked, I was always that individual my colleagues sought for a last look before things went to print.

In 2021, I began freelancing to focus solely on my passions for writing and editing. I wrote celebrity news articles for TheThings.com and did content writing for businesses. For almost three years, I worked as a deputy editor for Write My Wrongs Co, where I edited fiction and nonfiction books for those pursuing self-publication. In March 2024, I left and joined the editing staff of WriteByNight in New York. In my own successful editing business, I work with both self-published and traditionally published authors on beta reads, line and copy edits, developmental edits, proofreads, and ghostwrites.

I'm a member of the Freelancers Union, Editorial Freelancers Association, Women's Fiction Writers Association, and both the Virginia and Northern Virginia Writers Clubs. I'm currently finishing up my first novel, which was inspired by my love of books, music, and all things creative.
